Meet Rachael Lau
(30+ Years Experience)
My journey with Chinese medicine started more than 30 years ago, with my internal studies at Longhua Hospital, part of the Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. That's where I first learned to see the body the way Traditional Chinese Medicine sees it: as one connected whole.
Since then, I've spent more than 20 years in practice as a TCM acupuncturist. If you think this is just a job I trained for once, I'm here to tell you: it isn't. It's a way of understanding the body that has been passed down for generations, refined by the masters I've trained under across China, Taiwan, the US, Australia and the UK. I still travel overseas every year for workshops, because this is a medicine you never finish learning.
What We Treat
No two bodies are the same, and no two treatment plans at The Art of Health look alike either. We use tongue, pulse and auricular diagnosis, not just an isolated symptom, to understand what's going on beneath the surface.
Quit Smoking / Addictions
Breaking a habit is a fight with a craving, not just willpower. Acupuncture and ear therapy are used to support cravings and settle the nervous system, so quitting feels sustainable rather than white-knuckled.
ADHD
Focus is easier in a settled body. Acupuncture and herbal medicine are used to support calm, steadier energy and better rest, alongside whatever care you're already receiving.
Women's Health
From period pain to menopause, your cycle is always telling you something. We support you through every stage of it. See our Women's Health page for the full picture.
Stroke Rehabilitation
Recovery is a journey, not a single fix. Acupuncture is used to complement your medical rehabilitation, supporting circulation and movement wherever you are on that road.
Digestive Disorders
Bloating, poor appetite, sluggish digestion. These are signals, not just discomfort. We work to strengthen your digestive energy so your body can do its job properly again.
Skin Conditions
Skin health reflects what's happening internally. We take a whole-body approach to concerns like eczema, acne and dermatitis, supporting the root rather than just what's sitting on the surface.
Stress & Tension
When your body is stuck in overdrive, everything else pays for it. Sleep, digestion, mood and energy included. Acupuncture and massage help bring your nervous system back down to rest.
Chronic Fatigue
Tiredness that sleep doesn't fix isn't laziness. In Chinese medicine terms, it's depleted energy and blood. We work to rebuild your reserves gently, so your energy actually lasts.
Immune Support
A balanced immune system doesn't overreact or give up. Acupuncture and herbal medicine are used to support immune resilience, so your body is better equipped to look after itself.
Sleep Disorders
Trouble falling asleep, staying asleep, or waking up tired is rarely random. We look for what's keeping you from rest, and treat that.
Hormonal Imbalance
Hormones affect far more than your cycle. Mood, energy, skin and sleep too. We support your body in finding its natural rhythm again.
Autoimmune Conditions
Living with an autoimmune condition means knowing your body's patterns closely. Alongside your medical care, we offer complementary support for your day-to-day wellbeing.

Look Beyond the Symptom
When you come in, I'm not just treating 'a headache' or 'trouble sleeping'. I'm reading your tongue, your pulse, and often your ear, to understand what's going on underneath. This is the whole idea behind what I do. I'm not here to hand you something that quiets the symptom for today. I want to understand why your body is doing this, so we can work on the cause and help it stop coming back. Then we treat that, with acupuncture, herbal medicine, or whatever combination is right for you.
